Muriel Weyl has been involved with the Greater Port Jefferson/Northern Brookhaven Arts Council for the past sixteen years. She was chairperson for six years during its early development and has remained as a board member ever since, presently working on the music and writer's voice committees. She has served on the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs committee for the past six years. With an M.S. in counseling from Long Island University, she has had a varied professional life as a coordinator of student affairs, as a mid-life career counselor, as a small business owner and as a medical administrator. She has lectured throughout South America, in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil and Chile on the historical roles of women in the U.S. In 2002 she was honored by Stony Brook University with a "Ray of Light Award" for her role in community leadership.
