Doug Seegers long journey with music began as a child in West Islip, listening to his parents' Hank Williams records. Doug adopted the moniker Duke the Drifter in homage to that country music icon, and in the mid-70s became the bandleader of Angels in Overdrive, which broke all the rules of country music purism, blending old-time Country, New Wave, Blues, Gospel, Cajun and Rock and Roll into a rip-snorting mix that pre-dated Alt-Country by several decades. Along with friends Buddy Miller and Louisiana Red, Doug/Duke made an indelible impression on the vibrant and rambunctious Long Island music scene of the 70s and early 80s.

Fast forward to 2014: A Swedish documentary film crew searching for singers on the streets of Nashville discovered the homeless and newly sober Seegers, and connected him with his old compadre Buddy Miller. Doug's recording session at the Johnny Cash Cabin resulted in a collaboration with the legendary Emmylou Harris, wild popularity in Sweden and his being signed to Rounder Records.

You can hear Doug's amazing voice and songs at this homecoming celebration. Doug will be accompanied by fiddler Babs Lamb, former member of Asleep at the Wheel, and Mark O'Connor's fiddle teacher.
