Friday, November 30

5:00 PM    Victorian Lantern Lighting
EAST MAIN STREET opposite the First Baptist Church.  
Join the procession as a memorial street lantern is dedicated.
This charming ceremony includes poetry readings by school contest winners. 

5:30 PM    Opening Ceremony
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ON MAIN STREET.
Come hear the Chiming of the Bells. Delight in the music of the season.
Scrooge appears, and the Town Crier officially declares the Festival open as the church bells of the Village toll.

5:00 – 9:00 PM    A Children’s Affair/A Fired Up Affair 1
HARBOR SQUARE MALL.
Create your own holiday craft or a winter ceramic ornament, Christmas tree and other gifts.  Suitable for all ages.

5:00 – 10:00 PM   Dickens Reading Marathon  
STARBUCKS COFFEE SHOP, 201 MAIN STREET
Join in the Festival’s 1st Marathon Reading of selected Dickens’ works during the weekend.  
All ages are welcome to read a page or more. 

6:00 – 9:00 PM    Model Train Exhibit & Clinics
PORT JEFFERSON ANNEX (Formerly Port Jefferson Yacht Club), West Broadway.
An amazing 4 module running in G-scale, Lionel O scale, HO and N scales.
Thomas the Tank toy train will be running too!
Members of the Long Island Model Railroad Engineers Club will conduct clinics and share their knowledge on this fascinating hobby. 

6:30, 7:30 & 8:30 PM     Punch’s Holiday Adventures Puppet Show
MASONIC LODGE, MAIN STREET

6:00 PM to 11:00 PM   Victorian Delicacies and Potables for Dinner
LOCAL RESTAURANTS unveil their specialty menus to celebrate the season. 
Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Game Hens and Meat Pies team up with Mulled Wine,
Smoking Bishop and Sherry Trifle to impart a real London flavor. 
Explore until you find what tickles your fancy and then expect to be entertained by strolling players. 
But…make your reservations early.

7:30 PM     Hibernian Festival Singers  
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, MAIN STREET
Known worldwide, frequently seen at Radio City Music Hall and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, this well beloved group will perform favorite seasonal songs from Ireland and around the world. Seating limited to 250.  Doors open at 7:00 pm.

PORT JEFFERSON VILLAGE CENTER , East Broadway
Join the merriment and elegance of 19th century high society in a spectacular setting.
Tickets are $75 per person

8:00 PM    A Christmas Carol
THEATRE THREE presents its 24th annual adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. 
Make this a family holiday tradition. Tickets $12 per person, call 928-9100.
Have your picture taken with Scrooge after the performance in the theater lobby (non-ticket holders also invited) $5.

8:00 PM     The Nutcracker
HARBOR BALLET THEATER presents their 16th anniversary performances of this beloved ballet, at the Port Jefferson High School, Old Post Road.
Tickets are $20.  Special seniors and group rates available.

A unique collection of photos taken during one week in our own Village this summer by amateur and professional photographers.

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM   15th Annual Cookie Walk and Christmas Fair
11:30 AM, 1:30 and 2:30 PM   Stories to Lift the Holiday Spirit

Take a moment to relax and listen to the readings of classic stories in the Dickens spirit,
including  The Gift of the Magi, The Match Girl’s Gift and The Night Before Christmas.
7:00 PM  Join us for a rousing evening of Gospel Music performed by the Smithtown Tabernacle Gospel Choir. Be prepared to rock the rafters and praise the Lord with a mix of traditional and modern pieces. Doors open at 6:30PM. Seating is limited to 250 persons on a first come, first served basis.

PORT JEFFERSON VILLAGE CENTER, EAST BROADWAY
Members of the Wood Carvers Guild will exhibit their unique carvings and demonstrate several styles of woodcarving. A Noah’s Ark, including Noah, his wife, and 50+ sets of animals will be raffled.

This wonderful choir has been entertaining Long Island and the Dickens Festival for some time.  Sit, relax and enjoy an outstanding A Cappella concert of seasonal songs.
2:00 & 4:00 PM   The Story of St. Nicholas 
St.  Nicholas explains his feast day celebrated around the world in early December. Special gifts for children.

PORT JEFFERSON VILLAGE CENTER.  Join Nicholas Jacinto and learn about various animals out of Victorian England including ferrets, ducks, hedgehogs and a 13 pound rabbit. Perfect for younger children.

11:00 – 5:00 PM Dickens Alley  
HISTORIC EAST MAIN STREET.  Partake of this festive and magical experience that reflects the true spirit of Charles Dickens himself. Many unique shops with specialty items.  Donations of new toys, children’s clothing and non perishable foods will be collected and distributed to Christmas/Holiday Magic and local food pantries and community outreach programs.

11:30 AM    The Evergreen Choir
This wonderful choir has been entertaining Long Island and the Dickens Festival for many years.  Relax  and enjoy and outstanding A Cappella concert of seasonal songs.
1:00 PM    Fifteen Minute Christmas Carol with Apologies to Mr. Dickens
Don’t miss this rendition of a timeless classic.  The very talented Jeffrey Sanzel has created a refreshingly tart satire of his revered holiday work – a hilarious short, shorter and shortest version.
2:30 PM   Toot Sweet Quartet
This classically trained flute quartet will perform holiday favorites and classical selections.
4:30 PM    Stony Brook School Choir
An annual tradition, the choir will perform holiday music.  Directed by Bob Padgett.

12 Noon – Throughout the day    Family Puzzle Hunt
VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE VILLAGE
Learn fun facts about Port Jefferson’s historic past as you locate landmarks and collect all eight pieces of a puzzle.  First 100 families to complete the hunt will receive a Victorian keepsake.  A perfect family activity.

12 Noon – 4:00 PM    Children’s Maritime Museum Open House
PORT JEFFERSON VILLAGE CENTER. 
Children will enjoy learning about the Village’s maritime history in a fun and playful environment.

The Sweetbriar Nature Center offers a unique opportunity to see a European Kestral (falcon), a Barred Owl, and a Red Tailed Hawk and learn about the adaptations that help these awesome carnivores survive.

MASONIC LODGE    
Join Scrooge, Marley and the three ghosts for a Radio broadcast of the classic Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol.  Through the voices of actors, live sound effects, and audience participation experience this scary, yet heartwarming story of a man’s rediscovery of the meaning of Christmas.

Magician Pat Darienzo’s  jaw-dropping amazement and side-splitting laughter brings a unique blend of comedy, magic and audience participation to his performance. You won’t believe your eyes!

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
A special part of each year’s festivities, this elegant high tea is served by candlelight in fine porcelain teacups.  Ladies and gents enjoy fresh baked scones, delicious tea sandwiches, cakes and the finest of English teas.  Donation $15. 
Also featured is a complete and varied program of music, free and open to the public.

4:00 pm Handel’s Messiah,  Not to be missed, the North Shore Chamber Choir under the direction of Jeffrey Schneider will perform this classic baroque oratorio.

4:30 – 8:30 PM  12th Annual Charles Dickens Victorian Lanternlight House Tour
This year’s tour includes six Victorian era homes and takes place in “Mittyville” around Chestnut Street, Maiden Lane and First Avenue. Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church will host the traditional Open House at the end of the tour for rest and refreshments. Tickets required, cost $25 call 473-5220.

Giant puppets, singing choirs, actors, street characters and dancing children in a parade of lights march down Main Street to the Village Hall for closing ceremonies.  The Tree of Life is lit, celebrating all that the future will hold. Main Street to West Broadway.
